Empowering mental health innovators to improve the lives of people with mental, neurological and substance use disorders.
Connecting Nigerians actively focused on advancing mental health.
Nigerian Mental Health is a global community of mental health practitioners, with over 30 mental health organizations as members, actively leading efforts to improve psychosocial well-being. Founded in 2019, it connects people in Nigeria and the Diaspora to strengthen Nigerian mental health programming through a community of practice.
Policy & Advocacy
NMH fights for policies that help people successfully engage in the community, ensure people in crisis get help, not handcuffs, and empower people in Nigeria to get the best possible care.
Support for Communities
NMH advocates to improve the lives of people affected by mental health conditions. From the National Assembly to state legislatures to local city councils and line ministries, NMH uses the power of lived experience to shape how our country helps with mental illness.
Data & Information
NMH supports and encourages the use of data to aid in counselor training and first responders by helping counselors identify the appropriate questions to ask clients and building profiles of those who may need additional or long-term therapy beyond the scope of the center’s services or capabilities. NMH uses data to inform programming and push for policies that seek to eliminate practices that cause or worsen mental health conditions.

“I will say that the darkness doesn’t stay forever. It gets better. But being intentional about protecting your mental wellbeing is a priority and your fundamental right.”
