In 2025, Nigerian Mental Health (NMH) achieved a major legislative milestone with the National Suicide Prevention Bill successfully passing its first reading at the National Assembly. Our advocacy reached a global stage alongside the World Health Organization, while locally, we launched Nigeria's first Mental Health and Rehabilitation Centres Directory and grew our coalition to over 50 member organizations. Driven by a public mandate of nearly 9,000 petition signatures, we continue to lead the movement to decriminalize distress and ensure mental health is recognized as a fundamental right for all Nigerians.
